Duterte, Cayetano: No one will be spared in fight vs illegal drugs

The tandem of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano means business when it comes to fighting illegal drugs—and no one will be spared.

“These drug syndicates are armed and will resist arrest. When the lives of the people are endangered, I will give them standing orders to shoot these criminals,” Duterte said before hundreds of residents in Coron, Palawan on Friday.

Duterte and Cayetano on Friday attended the “Limpio ng Coron 2016: Linisin ang Coron sa Droga, Basura, at Hambalang sa Kalsada.”

Duterte said the operations of illegal drugs have invaded even the countryside. He vowed that he would not let drugs tarnish the image of Palawan.

“They (pushers) are exchanging ‘shabu’ for chickens, pigs and other farm animals,” the tough-talking mayor said.

Cayetano, meanwhile, said crime illegal drugs had been the cause of “disorder and lack of security in the country.”

“Sobra na ang gulo at hirap na dinaranas ng tao mula sa krimen at droga. Hindi natin hahayaan na maghari ang kaguluhan at sirain ng droga at krimen ang kagandahan ng inyong lalawigan,” the senator said.

In order to win the war against crime and drugs, Cayetano said he and Duterte would “strengthen and capacitate the country’s security forces.”

“We will cleanse the ranks of the police and military of the corrupt, provide better salaries and incentives, and modernize their anticrime and antinarcotics infrastructure,” he said.

The tandem, who is running under the platform of fighting crimes and drugs, has vowed to stop these illegal activities within the first six months of their service if elected in May. RC
