TAGBILARAN City, Bohol—After months of hiding in this city, a fugitive rape suspect from Palawan fell into the hands of law enforcers on Friday morning.

Gilven Cos Salinas, 34, was arrested by elements of Tagbilaran City Police Station (TCPS), Bohol Criminal Investigation and Detection Team and Mendoza Police Station of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Insp. George Valle, chief of TCPS, said Salinas was charged with statutory rape by sexual assault, qualified rape and two counts of acts of lasciviousness in Puerto Prinsesa City, Palawan in 2005.

Valle said they received a tip that Salinas was seen in Purok 5 in Taloto District in this city.

On Friday, authorities positively spotted the suspect on J.A. Clarin Street in this city that led to his arrest.

“The suspect was not able to escape when he was arrested,” Valle said.

The arrest was done with the strength of the warrant issued by Judge Jose Bayani Usman of Puerto Princesa City issued last April 22, 2015.

Salinas denied the accusations filed against him, saying he did not commit the crime.

Valle said that Salinas’ arrest was an accomplishment because he was accused of rape which is a non-bailable offense. RAM
