An enlisted personnel of the Philippine Air Force was killed in an encounter with New People’s Army in Batangas, the military said Tuesday.
Major Angelo Guzman, spokesperson of the Southern Luzon Command, said 12 soldiers of the 730th Combat Group were on patrol when it encountered 15 suspected communist rebels at around5 p.m. in Brgy. Toong in Tuy town on Monday.
Airman First Class Cliff Arvin Alama was hit by a bullet on the left shoulder.
“He was immediately pulled out of the encounter site and then evacuated to the Medical Center – Western Batangas in Balayan, Batangas,” Guzman said.
He was declared dead on arrival.
