Cop shot dead in Lemery, Batangas

BATANGAS CITY — A policeman was shot dead in the town of Lemery in Batangas on Monday morning, the police said.

The slain policeman was identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Bernard Mendoza, who was assigned at the Regional Intelligence Unit of the Philippine National Police Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) office based in Canlubang, Laguna.

Mendoza was driving his motorcycle in Barangay (village) Mahabang Dahilig of Lemery on his way to work when he was shot at around 9 a.m. by two unidentified armed men who wore bonnets and were on board a black Rusi motorcycle, Senior Superintendent Arcadio Ronquillo, the Batangas police director.

He said investigators were still establishing the motive for the killing.  SFM
