PLARIDEL, Bulacan-– A speeding car killed a 17-year-old boy and a woman after it smashed the front of a store and a parked vehicle in Sto. Niño village at 10:30 p.m. Friday, police said.
The Honda Civic sedan driven by Alfredo Payumo crushed 27-year-old Judy Ann Santos who was outside the shop of Romegio De Guzman to purchase telephone credits, said Ato Gabe, who witnessed the accident.
The vehicle (bearing plate numbers WGA-570) then propelled toward a delivery truck parked near the store, hitting it before smashing into 17-year-old student Kevin Romero, who was on his skateboard. The impact threw the boy toward the roof of the truck.
Santos and Romero died on the spot.
Supt. Dale Soliba, Plaridel chief of police, said police have taken Payumo under custody, after he was discharged by the Bulacan Medical Center in the City of Malolos. He was treated for minor injuries.
Soliba said investigations have yet to determine what caused Payumo to lose control of his car. He said forensic investigators are checking if Payumo had been drunk while driving.
He said Payumo was a Quezon City resident who was driving to Malolos City to check on his property there. CDG
