South Cotabato inmate breaks out during hospital confinement
KORONADAL CITY -– An inmate at the South Cotabato provincial jail outsmarted his jail guard while being confined at the provincial hospital here on Friday, jail officials said.
South Cotabato provincial jail warden Juan Lanzaderas identified the inmate as Joven Talib Camsa – who was rushed to the South Cotabato provincial hospital on Thursday evening after complaining of a kidney problem.
Early Friday morning, Camsa outsmarted his jail guard, JO1 Jocel Taglip, who accompanied him to the hospital, and fled.
Lanzaderas said investigation showed that Camsa, still handcuffed, removed the IV hose attached to him, slowly crawled out of the hospital through the emergency room backdoor and leaped over a 10-feet concrete wall that led to a diversion road.
“Manhunt has been going on,” Lanzaderas said.
Camsa was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. He was arrested, along with five others, in an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Bentong Sulit in Polomolok, South Cotabato in August last year.
