Today, Jan. 22, is the 106th birth anniversary of National Artist for Theater Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero. Born in Manila in 1910, Guerrero was a playwright, actor, director and teacher. He taught at the University of the Philippines and founded the UP Mobile Theater. The theater at Palma Hall was later named after Guerrero who received the first Gawad CCP Para Sa Sining for theater in 1989. He died on May 1, 1995, and was declared a National Artist in 1997.
