SULOP, Davao del Sur – Police authorities arrested two suspected gunrunners during a buy-bust operation here around 5 p.m. Thursday.
Elements of the Sulop police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection and Group (CIDG) collared Jilbert Bahinting, 37, a resident of Malita, Davao Occidental; and Jason Quirante of Bukidnon, after they received P20,000 in marked money for two homemade .45-caliber pistols.
Chief Insp. Jose Teody Condesa, the CIDG head for Davao del Sur, said Bahinting once headed a gunrunning group.
The two are being temporarily held at the CIDG office here as charges for violation of the comprehensive gun law and the Commission on Elections’ gun ban are being prepared against them through summary inquest proceedings. SFM
