Duterte: NPC asked for my campaign platform
CABANATUAN CITY — Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday said he was asked to provide the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) with his political platform during talks on Monday night, which could shape a coalition supporting his presidential bid.
“They asked me about my platform of government. There was no formal talks at all about [NPC] supporting me or [my] coalescing with them,” Duterte said in an ambush interview at the sidelines of a program celebrating the 19th founding anniversary of Premiere Medical Center here.
Asked if he sought NPC support, he said, “Maybe, yeah. I welcome it.”
Duterte said an NPC alliance would help boost his campaign.
The mayor is the substitute candidate of PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan) after the party’s original candidate, Martin Dino, backed out over questions about his Certificate of Candidacy.
