Amid the disqualification cases she is facing, the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) said Sen. Grace Poe “remains to be a top choice of the party” for the 2016 presidential elections.

“A lot of members would want the party to support senator Grace Poe,” Quezon Rep. and NPC spokesman Mark Enverga said in a press conference on Tuesday.

However, Enverga said that the NPC has yet to issue a party stand on whom to support for president in May.

“The party is bent on supporting only one presidential candidate,” he said, adding that NPC would release its party stand before February 9.

He said NPC will form an executive committee to decide on the party’s presidential bet.

The executive committee, Enverga said, will be composed of 15 members.

“We are very much highly after the platform of a presidential candidate,” he said.

Enverga said that the economic platform and integrity of the candidate will be greatly significant for the party.

He said that the party faces a difficult decision because of their members’ “personal choice.”

Asked about the pending disqualification cases of Poe before the Supreme Court, Enverga said the party believes that the senator was qualified to run for the highest post in the country.

We are very much in the belief that she is qualified to run,” he said. RAM
