Three senators have filed resolutions in the upper chamber to honor and remember the late Philippine Daily Inquirer’s editor in chief Letty Jimenez Magsanoc who passed away on December 24, 2015 at the age of 74.
Senate President Franklin Drilon and Senators Loren Legarda and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel all filed resolutions extolling Magsanoc for her contributions to Philippine journalism.
The resolutions also hailed Magsanoc’s crucial role as a freedom-fighter during the Martial Law years and her subsequent stint as the longest-serving editor in chief of the country’s newspaper of record.
In a statement on Sunday, Drilon said that the Senate is set to formally pass the resolutions honoring Magsanoc when it resumes its plenary sessions on Monday, June 18. AJH/JE
