All the victims were on board a car that was seen speeding along the city’s village of San Jose at around 2:44 a.m. before it slammed into a concrete barrier, caught fire and burned all the passengers inside, according to Quirante.

The remains of all the victims were brought to a funeral home in Dasmarinas City, also in Cavite.

But Bautista’s family could not say who she could be with at the time of the accident.

The accident took along the Tagaytay-Calamba road in Barangay San Jose. Quoting witnesses, Quirante said the car, a red Toyota Vios with plate number AHA 5287, was seen near a convenient store in Tagaytay rotunda shortly before the accident.

“It was running very fast and wayward before it hit a concrete barrier and a tree,” he said.

Due to the impact, the car immediately caught fire killing all the passengers.

“Our barangay rescuers immediately responded with fire extinguishers and hose from a coffee shop nearby, but the fire had spread very fast,” Quirante said.

Quirante said investigation continues to identify the other passengers. The victims’ remains would also still undergo an autopsy to determine if they were drunk, he said.
