The accident took along the Tagaytay-Calamba road in Barangay San Jose. Quoting witnesses, Quirante said the car, a red Toyota Vios with plate number AHA 5287, was seen near a convenient store in Tagaytay rotunda shortly before the accident.
“It was running very fast and wayward before it hit a concrete barrier and a tree,” he said.
Due to the impact, the car immediately caught fire killing all the passengers.
“Our barangay rescuers immediately responded with fire extinguishers and hose from a coffee shop nearby, but the fire had spread very fast,” Quirante said.
Quirante said investigation continues to identify the other passengers. The victims’ remains would also still undergo an autopsy to determine if they were drunk, he said.
