Security guard kills self after shooting cousin in Pangasinan
DAGUPAN CITY—A 35-year-old security guard last Thursday shot and killed his cousin before turning the gun on himself in San Carlos City, police said on Friday.
Supt. Noel Vallo, San Carlos police chief, said Lemuel Paningbatan shot his cousin Juanito Venezuela, a 33-year-old tricycle driver, several times near his house in Barangay (village) Balite around 2:30 p.m.
Paningbatan then walked about four steps away from his dead cousin and shot himself in the head.
Vallo said investigators were still trying to determine what triggered the violence because the cousins’ relatives were not cooperating fully as of press time.
Paningbatan, who works in Metro Manila, had just returned to the village to visit his wife and a young child.
Vallo said six empty shells fired from a .45 caliber pistol were found at the crime scene. RAM
