After seeking to resume the Senate hearings on the corruption allegations against Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV on Wednesday said he was convinced that the opposition leader was a thief and a liar.
“Kinarir ko ‘to. Kumbinsado ako,” Trillanes said over dzMM radio when asked about the strength of his claims against Binay.
Trillanes said the masses were turning a blind eye on the supposed lies being proliferated by Binay in hopes that they would benefit from the money supposedly stolen from public coffers.
It was Trillanes who initiated the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee probe on the corruption allegations against Binay in August 2014, including accusations of overpricing and kickbacks in the construction of buildings in Makati City when he was still mayor.
Trillanes reiterated that his seeking a resumption of the probe had nothing to do with his low ratings in preference poll surveys and Binay’s resurgence.
RC
