Preparations underway for Buglasan festival

PREPARATIONS for Negros Oriental’s Buglasan Festival of festivals are under way with more than 50 events lined up for the celebration.

Former Provincial Board member Mariant Escaño-Villegas, this year’s Buglasan director, briefed local tourism coordinators from different local government units (LGUs) on the upcoming event.

The festival will start on Oct. 14 with daily activities and programs until Oct. 23.

The event will feature a street dance competition and search for king and queen on Oct. 21. The showdown of festivals will bring in the best contingents from the province’s more than 20 municipalities.

The showdown and street dancing will pass through Dumaguete’s main thoroughfares, while on their way towards   the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center, where each contingent will perform.

This year’s celebration banners the theme “Working together to bring Negros Oriental tourism to greater heights.”
