Pinoy Pride 9 coverage tops nationwide ratings
ALA Boxing Promotions scored a double success as it does not only conquered the ring after its prizefighter Donnie “Ahas” Nietes snatched the WBO jr. flyweight belt from Mexican Ramon Garcia Hirales in last Saturday’s Pinoy Pride 9 but was also able to top the television ratings nationwide.
The first-ever world championship bout in Bacolod City which was co-presented by ABS-CBN, turned in a 14 percent national ratings average. It also got an average of 12.1 percent in the Luzon area.
ALA and ABS-CBN knocked out network rivals, GMA after its Kapuso Movie Sunday Festival only got 12.8 rating and Party Pilipinas’ 11.2 percent. ASAP Rocks barely beat Pinoy Pride 9 with a 14.2 percent score.
The surveys were based on Kantar TNS Daytime Nationwide Ratings and AGB Nielsen Philippines Mega Manila People Ratings.
Northern Luzon turned in 14.4 rating, southern Luzon had a 15.7 percent while central Luzon posted seven percent.
Mega Manila had a 10.5 percent share while Metro Manila turned in 10.8 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementAn astounding 23.7 percent was scored by the boxing mega show in the Visayas where the newly-crowned, two-division world champion Nietes was born and raised particularly in Murcia, Bacolod.

Pinoy Pride 9 was also a huge box office success with the University of St. La Salle Coliseum filled to the rafters.
Adding another success for ALA promotions was its first venture into the pay-per-view business which catered to Cebuano boxing fans for the first time.
