MANILA, Philippines — The man who was jailed for stabbing his three children to death in Manila last September was found dead inside the Manila City jail on Sunday.
Based on the report filed by Jail Officer 1 Jeffrey Matias at 4:30 p.m., Rolando Lipana Reformado was found hanging in an apparent suicide. No other details were provided.
The Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center identified Reformado as the inmate who died. His suicide was reported to the Manila Police District homicide division by Matias.
Reformado was brought to the hospital at 7:13 a.m. This was not the first time he tried to end his life.
His first suicide attempt was also on September 1 after he killed his children, when his wife refused to come back to him. He stabbed himself in the chest but survived.
Reformado was slapped with murder charges for the deaths of the kids named Jonel, 14; Junli, 9; and Janel, 5.
According to his sister-in-law, Marjorie Rey, Reformado ordered her to tell his wife, Angelie, that he would never leave her in peace, “if only so that she would remember me in her dreams.”
Before he killed their children, Reformado told Rey that “we are about to leave, I hope she gives the children a proper burial. Never mind me, she can throw my body in the Pasig River. It’s nearly midnight, and it’s too late.”
He also left a note for Angelie that he would never leave her in peace. Angelie, for her part, refused to go back to him allegedly because she could no longer stomach his abuse. SFM
