2 men nabbed for QC restaurant robbery

MANILA, Philippines — Two men were arrested over the weekend after breaking into a Quezon City restaurant, which was closed for the holidays, and making off with more than P80,000 of the restaurant’s equipment.

Louie Cunanan, 26, and Joey Samera, 26, both of Barangay South Triangle, were apprehended in follow-up operations after the heist at the restaurant located in their very neighborhood.

The two men were identified by residents as the ones who broke into the Never Hurt Restobar at the corner of Scout Torillo and Scout Fuentebella Streets.

The case investigator, PO2 Myron Forosan of the Kamuning police station, said the burglars managed to flee with P81,700 worth of equipment, although some were recovered upon their arrest.

The restaurant was locked down and closed for renovation during the holidays and was unattended prior to the break-in.

The burglary was discovered last Saturday morning by an employee, Rolando Aleontin.

Among the stolen items were: two high pressure burners worth P4,000; a speaker worth P5,000; an electric drill worth P2,500; a speaker cord worth P1,000; three audio speakers worth P15,000; a light controller worth P4,200; a Hitachi electric grinder worth P2,500; a KCT electric drill worth P2,500; an electric jack hammer worth P25,000; and a welding machine worth P10,000.

Witnesses recalled that the suspects arrived outside the restaurant aboard a tricycle and used the same vehicle to haul off their loot.

Upon discovering the break-in, Aleontin reported the robbery to the police, with the suspects getting identified by witnesses and arrested in follow-up operations.  SFM
