Fireworks show scores 3 more world records for Iglesia
The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) said it had won for the Philippines three new Guinness world records as the country welcomed 2016.
Edwil Zabala, INC spokesperson, said the religious group was the new record holder for the largest fireworks display, the longest line of sparklers lit in relay and the most sparklers lit simultaneously.
Two thousand Iglesia members gathered on New Year’s Eve at Ciudad de Victoria, home of the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan province, for their attempt to break the world records, he said.
The INC surpassed Norway’s world record of having the largest fireworks display with around 700,000 pieces lighting up the sky for almost an hour.
Christina Conlon, official adjudicator of Guinness World Records, confirmed the breaking of the records, Zabala added.
In October 2015, the INC also set the new world record for largest audience for a film screening and largest audience at a film premiere for “Felix Manalo,” the biographical movie on the INC founder, at the Philippine Area.
