PASIR GUDANG, Malaysia –
Three-year-old Mohd Yashar Al-Zudi Zainal Abidin was in the bathroom with the baby sitter who was bathing him when the incident took place at the house in Taman Kota Masai here yesterday.
The boy’s father Zainal Abidin Rahim, 36, said he was told by the babysitter that the incident happened in the blink of an eye.
“She told me that she looked away for just a moment in order to grab a bottle of shower gel when my son’s right foot slipped and got trapped in the toilet bowl,” Zainal said.
He had earlier dropped off Yashar at the babysitter’s house at 8am before sending his wife to work.
Zainal said after that he then drove to a nearby kindergarten to register the enrolment for his six-year-old daughter El Zarra Yusreena for the new school semester.
But that was when the babysitter called to inform of the incident involving his son.
Zainal then rushed to the babysitter’s house to check on his son’s situation.
He said it was quite challenging for the Fire and Rescue Department personnel to free Mohds Yashar’s foot due to his weight (24kg) and because the foot was stuck deep in the toilet bowl.
Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department operation officer Mazlan Ibrahim said the father and babysitter managed to keep the toddler calm while they tried pull the boy’s foot out from the toilet bowl.
Mazlan’s officers were then able to pull his foot out of the toilet bowl in 16 minutes without having to use soap or breaking the toilet bowl.
The Fire and Rescue Department medical team checked the boy and declared him free of any injury.
