Malacañang on Tuesday said it was one with the Filipino people in hoping that the Supreme Court would come up with a fair and just decision on the disqualification case of Sen. Grace Poe from the 2016 presidential derby.
“Doon sa sistema ng ating batas, ‘yung Comelec (Commission on Elections) ang nagpapasya sa mga election cases at ang mga desisyon nito ay inaapela sa Korte Suprema na siyang final arbiter ng mga election cases. At kaisa tayo ng mamamayan sa pag-asa at pagtitiwala na kung anumang desisyon ang igagawad dito, ito ay magiging patas, makatuwiran at makatarungan,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma said in a statement.

The high court on Monday issued temporary restraining orders (TRO) on the poll body’s rulings to cancel Poe’s certificate of candidacy amid citizenship and residency issues. The issuance of the TROs came after the lady senator’s camp filed two petitions assailing the Comelec en banc’s decision that affirmed two previous rulings of its first and second divisions.
Amid allegations from critics, Coloma maintained that the administration had nothing to do with the disqualification suits against Poe.
“Walang kinalaman ang administrasyon hinggil diyan at uulitin ko lang ‘yung ating pag-asa at pagtitiwala na ang anumang desisyong igagawad ay makatuwiran at makatarungan,” he said.
Poe previously said that her rivals were behind efforts to disqualify her from the 2016 race.
