PH Air Force fighter jets to make speed pass on Rizal Day
The Philippine Air Force’s two newly-acquired fighter jets, the FA-50s, will make a high speed pass on Wednesday, Rizal Day, as one of the event’s highlights.
President Benigno Aquino III will grace the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies in commemoration of the 119th anniversary of the death of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal at the Rizal National Monument in Manila, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said in an advisory.
There will also be an aerial flower drop and a fly by of SF260 trainer planes and helicopters.
“Every year, we celebrate Rizal Day to reflect on the sacrifice of Dr. Jose Rizal to free our country from the shackles of abuse and inequality. Through his writings and deeds, our forefathers became a braver, more united citizenry— one both capable and determined to win the liberties we now enjoy,” Aquino said in a separate statement.
Aquino said Rizal’s works are relevant to this day, “a reminder of a past when freedom seemed beyond our reach.”
