At least 2 soldiers killed, 1 wounded in Abu Sayyaf attack in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY—At least two Marine soldiers were killed when a band of Abu Sayyaf bandits stormed a military detachment in Talipao, Sulu early Monday.

Major Filemon Tan Jr., spokesperson of the military’s Western Mindanao Command based here, said another Marine soldier was wounded in the attack that took place in Sitio (sub-village) Palan in Barangay (village) Mampallam around 2 a.m.

He did not provide the identities of the Marine fatalities but said the detachment was being manned by the 2nd Marine Company.
There was no immediate report on any Abu Sayyaf casualty.

Tan said the military was conducting pursuit operation against the bandits. RAM
