P150, 000 worth of valuables lost in Manila burglary

MANILA, Philippines—A manpower agent lost more than P150, 000 cash and valuables to thieves who burglarized his home in Manila Thursday night, police said.

Muhammad Alinaiz Macmad, 24, a tenant at 1733 San Marcelino Street in Malate, lodged early Friday a complaint before the Manila Police District theft and robbery section after finding his room in disarray, ransacked of his belongings.

MPD theft and robbery section head Chief Insp. Arturo Paras said that the break-in happened between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday.

Paras revealed that before the incident, Macmad and his two housemates left the room locked at around 1 pm.

When they returned at around 8 p.m. Macmad found the door unlocked and discovered that the room was in total disarray. He sought the help of village watchmen, who advised him to report the burglary to the MPD.

Police said Macmad lost cash worth P52, 600; a laptop computer priced at P30, 000; other electronic devices, including a mobile phone, worth P44, 000; and assorted jewelry totaling P25, 500.

MPD theft and robbery section investigators are conducting follow-up operations for the identification and arrest of the thieves as well as the possible recovery of the stolen items.
