VICE President Jejomar Binay on Thursday called on government officials to bring “genuine change and lasting comfort” to the people beyond the Christmas season.

In his Christmas message, the standard-bearer of the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) urged those in government to deliver quality public service beyond the holidays.

“For those of us in government, we must strive even further to uplift the nation by bringing genuine change and lasting comfort for the people, not only during this season but every single day of our tenure in public office,” said Binay in his message.

Binay urged civil servants to render “governance that is felt by every Filipino.”

“Together, let us offer the nation a government that truly works for the people, and where every rich or poor Filipino partakes of the fruits of development attained through our hard work and sacrifices,” said the Vice President, who is back in the lead in surveys on preferred presidential candidates.

Binay resigned from the Aquino Cabinet in June amid allegations of corruption. The former mayor of Makati City has denied the charges, countering that the charges were part of an orchestrated plot to derail his presidential run. Tarra Quismundo
