MANILA, Philippines — Suspects shot dead a police officer who responded to a report about the presence of armed men in a village in Cagayan de Oro City Tuesday night, police said Wednesday.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. identified the slain lawman as Police Officer 3 Quirico Hengania Portallo, who was killed by suspects in P-6, Sayre Highway in Puerto village, Cagayan de Oro City at around 10:30 p.m.
The policeman had responded to information about three armed men who were sighted in the area, said Cruz.
The PNP spokesman said that a manhunt was ongoing to arrest the suspects.
