Bulacan gov to file class suit vs Napocor for dam release despite floods

CITY OF MALOLOS—Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado on Tuesday announced he intends to file a class suit against the National Power Corp. and other agencies responsible for the four-day water discharges from Angat Dam which worsened floods in the 7 towns like Calumpit and Hagonoy.

In a news conference at the Governor’s Official Residence here, Alvarado said the provincial government would also sue the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) and the Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for inundating 60 villages despite earlier calls to delay the opening of floodgates until floods caused by waters draining out of Nueva Ecija and Pampanga have subsided.
