ON DEC. 23, 1935, Commonwealth Act No. 2 was enacted creating the National Economic Council, the forerunner of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda). By virtue of Proclamation No. 666 signed in 1990 by then President Corazon Aquino, Socio-Economic Planning and Development Week is observed every Dec. 17 to 23 and Neda Day every Dec. 23.
