Acting on a tip from the “Holy Spirit,” a businessman from Marinduque province bagged the P2l2-million jackpot in the Dec. 13 Super Lotto 6/49 draw.
The 58-year-old father of four was the sole player who picked the winning number combination of 05-08-10-13-15-33 to take home the P212,502,832 grand prize.
According to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II, the lucky bettor has been an avid lotto player for 19 years.
When he claimed his prize at the PCSO’s head office in Mandaluyong City, the winner told Rojas that the lucky number combination was given to him “by the Holy Spirit” in a dream.
Since he became a multimillionaire through divine intercession, the winner said he would donate a portion of his prize to his church.
He added that he and his wife also intended to use his winnings to boost their machine parts business and save the rest for their children’s future.
The Super Lotto 6/49 has a minimum guaranteed jackpot prize of P16 million. It grew to more than P212 million after no one guessed the winning number combination in the last 43 draws starting last September.
Meanwhile, Rojas announced Tuesday that the PCSO would be suspending the lottery’s draws and selling of tickets on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2016, “to properly observe the solemnity of the season” and allow the agency’s employees to spend time with their families.
The PCSO will be holding early draws on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. Draws for the EZ2 Lotto and Suertres will be held at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. while the 6-Digit, Lotto 6/42 and Super Lotto 6/49 will be conducted at 2:30 p.m.
