PNP intensifies crackdown on banned firecrackers

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its law enforcement campaign against the use and selling of banned firecrackers during the holiday season.

Officials of the PNP Firearms and Explosive Division on Tuesday confiscated banned firecrackers in various stores in Bocaue town in Bulacan.

Among the banned and dangerous firecrackers confiscated during the inspection were “Goodbye Philippines, Giant Pla-pla, Giant Lolo, Giant Bawang, Bin Laden, Super Lolo, Lolo Thunder, among others.

As of December 22, the PNP has recorded six fire pre-New Year revelry incidents, three of which were due to use of banned firecrackers, two for illegal discharge of firearms and one was a victim of stray bullet.

The PNP said no fatality from firecrackers was recorded so far.
