Chinese caught with P15-M worth of ‘shabu’ in Makati

AUTHORITIES seized around five kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” from a Chinese national in front of a convenience store in Makati City on Sunday night.

Xiao Min Chua alias “Henry Ong,” 45, was arrested after his clients turned out to be undercover police agents. The drugs that were packaged in transparent plastic sachets and hidden in his van were estimated to have a street value of P15 million.

The police said that Chua was most likely a bigtime drug peddler who dealt with rich clients.

The entrapment operation was conducted by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operations Group (RAID-SOTG) around 9:30 p.m. Sunday in front of a convenience store on Jupiter corner N. Garcia Streets in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City.

Aside from the drugs, also recovered from the suspect were the marked money worth P1.2 million used by the policemen to pay for the drugs and his van, a white Toyota Innova with plate number TQJ 783.

The police said that Chua, a Chinese mainlander, lived on 5th Avenue in Caloocan City. He now faces charges of illegal drug possession and sale for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
