Skilled engineers eyed by construction firm
Highly skilled engineers are the target of of Fluor Daniel Inc. – Philippines, which recently inaugurated a Cebu office in TGU Tower in Asiatown IT Park in Lahug.
“We target to have 300 employees in Cebu before the end of 2012. At present there are 75 and we will be growing these numbers slowly. We need engineers in all specializations—mechanical, chemical, electrical and more,” said Peter Oosterveer, Fluor group president for energy and chemicals.
He said they were confident that Cebu has the needed manpower.
Fluor Daniel Inc. is a US-based Fortune 500 construction management firm.
In a press conference last Friday, Oosterveer said that after careful studies, they identified the Philippines as one of their growth areas in Asia.
“We are very encouraged by the performance in our Alabang office. We decided to open one more in the Philippines and saw Cebu as the best place for expansion. The Philippines is one of our major growth areas in Asia as well as China and India,” said Oosterveer.
The company has been operating in the country for about 25 years and employs 1,600 people.
