All storm signals were lifted as Tropical Depression Nona (international name Melor) weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) midday Thursday.
As of 8 a.m., the LPA was located 75 kilometers west of Subic in Olongapo City, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The LPA will still bring light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, however.
Fishermen were also told to avoid the seaboards of northern, western and eastern seaboards of Luzon, Pagasa said.
At its peak, Nona packed maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 185 kph.
It made landfall six times — in Batag, Northern Samar; Bulusan, Sorsogon; Burias Island; Banton Sorsogon; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, and Lubang Island in Oriental Mindoro.
Nona dumped heavy rain, damaged roads and bridges and toppled power and communication lines. It also cancelled dozens of domestic flights and suspended classes in parts of Eastern Visayas and Luzon.
