FORMER WBO interim light flyweight world champion Johnriel Casimero (14W-2L, 8 KOs) will battle Roemart “TI Yamagata” Sentillas (11W-7L, 7 KOs) of the TI Cebu Stable this Saturday in the undercard of the highly anticipated return of former world champion Marvin Sonsona who will fight Mexican Carlos Jacobo at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.
Casimero will try to bounce back from losses in title fights against Ramon Garcia Hirales of Mexico and Moruti Mthalane of South Africa. Casimero was one of the sparring partners of
Garcia Hirales when the latter trained here at the Omega Gym of Cebu for his title defense against Donnie “Ahas” Nietes in Bacolod City. The Mexican eventually lost his world title to
Nietes last Saturday.
Sentillas is no push-over though. Last August in Sibonga, Cebu, he rose from a first round knockdown to beat Noel Adelmita by unanimous decision.
Also scheduled to see action in the card is Jessie Albaracin (14W-3L- 3D, 12 KOs) of the Tony Dacer Stable of Davao City who will be defending his WBO Oriental superbantamweight title against veteran Marvin Tampus (27W-13L-2D, 18 KOs). Albaracin won the title by stopping Nino Magboo in eight rounds in Muntinlupa City.
The weigh-in is scheduled this Friday and fight day is on Saturday, Oct. 15. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
