All systems go for N’ Dash Run

07:28 AM October 12, 2011

THE NURSES’ Driving Access for Society’s Health (N’ Dash) running event will be held Oct. 22 Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.

The date was moved a day earlier than its original schedule of Oct. 23 because organizers decided not to go up against other running events that will be held on the same day for safety reasons.

Another running event is also scheduled for Oct. 22 but this one will be held in Lapu-Lapu, which means there will be no conflict of race routes.

The PMAP and Saint Peter Run are the races slated on Sunday, Oct. 23. The Pueblo Verde Pink Run of the Aboitizland Inc. is the other race scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22.

“We were forced to move and make a big sacrifice to prevent accidents and overcrowding if we fire off simultaneously with the other running events,” said Roland Fermo, the vice president for the programs and development of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) and governor of PNA Region VII, during the formal launching of the event at the PNA office in Fuente Osmeña.

The permit of PNA was approved by the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC) four months ago according to Fermo but they were surprised the CCSC still approved two more running events on the same day.

“We were the first to file a permit in the CCSC. But we can’t do anything about that and that’s why we made a big sacrifice for the interest of the public and the safety for the runners.”

The race, which is a kick off activity for Nurses Week in the Philippines, will have 3-kilometer, 6-k and 12-k categories. It is also an activity for the 89th founding anniversary of PNA and the 54th anniversary celebration of the Nurses Week.

The event’s proceeds will be given to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of the race singlet, race bib and refreshments after the race.  Registration can be made at the PNA office in Jessever Building above the
Dunkin Donuts Fuente.
