METRO Manila and several nearby provinces were warned of possible flooding on Tuesday night due to heavy to torrential rains spawned by Typhoon “Nona” (international name: Melor).
Red warning was issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) over Metro Manila, Rizal and Cavite at 9:30 p.m.
This means serious flooding is expected in low-lying areas and evacuation is recommended as more than 30mm of rain was observed in an hour and will continue in the next two hours.
Orange warning was issued in Batangas, Bataan, Laguna and northern Quezon. This means 15 to 30 mm of rain was observed in an hour and is expected to continue in the next two hours.
Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales and the rest of Quezon were placed under Yellow warning.
Under a Yellow Rainfall advisory, 7.5 mm and 15 mm of rainfall are dumped in one hour and likely to continue in the next two hours.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are affecting Tarlac and Nueva Ecija which may persist for 2-3 hours, Pagasa said.
Weather in the National Capital Region is expected to improve by Thursday. “Nona” will exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday.
