DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said on Sunday that Liberal Party (LP) presidential candidate Mar Roxas’ claim he graduated with an Economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School was a lie.
The Wharton School was founded in 1881 as the first collegiate business school in the world.
Wharton has 10 departments—Accounting, Business Economics and Public Policy, Finance, Health Care Management, Legal Studies and Business Ethics, Management, Marketing, Operations, Information and Decisions, Real Estate and Statistics.
Its undergraduate curriculum combines liberal arts or sciences and business courses. Wharton’s undergraduate degree programs include Wharton’s Bachelor of Science in Economics and coordinated dual-degree programs.
The undergraduate dual-degree programs include the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business (Wharton Bachelor of Science in Economics and College Bachelor of Arts with a major in International Studies); the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology (Wharton Bachelor of Science in Economics and Penn Engineering Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Science in Engineering); the Roy and Diana Vagelos Program in Life Sciences and Management (Wharton Bachelor of Science in Economics and College Bachelor of Arts and Sciences); and the Nursing and Health Care Management (Wharton Bachelor of Science in Economics and Penn Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
MBA degrees
Wharton also offers a Master’s in Business Administration program, an MBA program for executives and interdisciplinary programs such as MBA/MA Lauder Joint Degree in International Studies and the MBA in Health Care Management.
The MBA degree can also be combined with a degree from other University of Pennsylvania graduate and professional schools. MBA students can choose from the following joint-degree options: Biotechnology, Design, Engineering, Law, Medical Sciences, Nursing, and Social Work. The joint degree programs include the Francis J. and Wm. Polk Carey JD/MBA Program with Penn Law.
