‘Nona’ slices through Burias Islands; Metro still under Signal No. 1

TYPHOON “Nona” has crossed Burias Islands and is now traversing Sibuyan Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said late Monday night.

In its 11 p.m. bulletin, Pagasa said the eye of the typhoon as of  10 p.m. was located over Sibuyan Sea or 100 kilometers east northeast of Romblon, Romblon (coordinates: 12.7°N, 123.2°E).

Nona is expected to pass over Mindoro provinces Tuesday afternoon.

Pagasa said Nona has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph, moving west at 15 kph.

Oriental Mindoro Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Albay, Marinduque and Romblon

Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Southern Quezon, Batangas, Calamian Group of Islands and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island

Northern Samar

LUZON

Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal, Northern Palawan, Bataan and rest of Quezon including Polillo Island

VISAYAS

Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Northern Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Aklan, Capiz, Antique and Iloilo

According to Pagasa, public storm signal elsewhere has now been lifted.
