Light to moderate rains in Metro Manila, nearby provinces due to ‘Nona’

Metro Manila and nearby provinces are starting to experience rains from Typhoon Nona (international name Melor) on Monday afternoon.

“Light to moderate to at times heavy ‪‎rains affecting ‪‎Metro Manila, ‪Rizal, ‪Bulacan, ‪Batangas, ‪Laguna, ‪Nueva Ecija (GenTinio, Gabaldon which may persist for an hour. Expect light to moderate to at times heavy rains over ‪‎Pampanga, ‪Cavite within the next 2 hours,” the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in an advisory at 3:51p.m.

Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, and Bulacan were some of the provinces in Luzon that were placed under Signal No. 1 as of midday Monday.

Nona made landfall over Northern Samar at around 11 a.m. and is expected to make a second landfall early evening in Sorsogon area.

Weather in Metro Manila is expected to improve by Thursday, Pagasa said.
