‘Nona’ to make landfall on Sorsogon at 3 p.m.
SORSOGON CITY — Authorities in Sorsogon are moving up all preparations after the state weather bureau informed disaster officials here that typhoon Nona will landfall in Sorsogon province at 3 p.m.
Ariel Doctama, public information officer of Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), said Typhoon Nona is predicted to hit here earlier than the projected 7 p.m. landfall, citing information from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
So far, 143,223 individuals from 29,015 families are now in evacuation centers in the towns of Bulan, Bulusan, Magallanes, Prieto Diaz and Sta. Magdalena, he said.
Typhoon Nona is expected to make landfall at 3 p.m. within the vicinities of towns Sta. Magdalena and Matnog, said Doctoma.
Doctama said the typhoon’s path will slice into the province entering from the east and going west affecting this city and all the 14 towns of Sorsogon (population: 740,000).
