Red Cross, docs ink agreement
THE PHILIPPINE Red Cross (PRC) and the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) have signed a memorandum of agreement allowing the humanitarian organization to call on the services of PMA members in times of emergency.
PRC Chair Richard Gordon said the partnership agreement he and PMA president Dr. Maria Minerva Calimag entered into would enhance the Red Cross’ disaster response capabilities as teams of doctors would be on call for deployment—for an “effective and well-coordinated” response and set up of emergency field hospitals and trauma services during mass casualty incidents.
He said the agreement was a “unique” initiative.
“We are the only national Red Cross society that has cooperation agreements with numerous local medical organizations,” Gordon said in a statement. Jovic Yee
