3 killed in landmine blast set off by NPA in Compostela Valley
TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Philippines — At least three people were killed in a landmine explosion believed set off by communist rebels in Mabini, Compostela Valley, on Saturday, the military on Sunday said.
Fifteen others, including a civilian, were wounded in the attack at Cabuyoan village, around 6:30 p.m., said Capt. Benedict Corpuz, civil-military officer of the Army’s 1001st Infantry Brigade.
Corpuz said the dead included a soldier, a militiaman and a civilian.
He said a group of soldiers and villagers were travelling on foot heading to Barangay Anitapan when the explosion happened. Corpuz said pursuit operations have been launched against the rebels behind the bombing. SFM
