Tropical storm “Nona” (international name: “Melor”) has slowed down but maintained its strength and direction, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin issued Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it is possible that public storm warning signal No. 1 will be raised over Bicol region and Samar by Sunday morning.
The location of eye or center of the storm was estimated to be at 1,025 km East of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Pagasa said it has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
According to forecast, it will move West Northwest at 17 kph. On Sunday morning (24 hour), it is expected to be positioned at 605 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar; on Monday morning (48 hour), at 350 km East of Sorsogon City, Sorsogon; on Tuesday morning (72 hour), in the vicinity of Virac, Catanduanes; on Wednesday morning (96 hour), at 55 km Northeast of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; and on Thusday morning (120 hour), at 195 km West of Calapan City.
