Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel on Thursday responded to an emergency different from what they usually encounter in their job.
Two officers of the BFP helped a woman to give birth inside a taxi cab at the Quezon City Central Fire Station compound at 7:50 a.m.
Colyn Alcala was in a taxi en route to the hospital when the driver, Edwin Esteban, noticed that the baby was about to come out.
Quickly thinking on his feet, Esteban went to the QC Central Fire Station located at Kalayaan Ave. where FO3 Richard Andrew Roces met them.
The Facebook page of the BFP revealed the details of the ordeal:
“Upon arrival, FO3 Andrew responded immediately to the incident because he saw that the head of the baby is already visible. He then requested assistance from the QCFD Central Office, and FSI Glezie A. Daus responded,” the post read.

Roces and Daus successfully facilitated the delivery of the Alcala’s son.
They were then rushed to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
