Probe of P1-M theft ongoing despite death of 2 suspects

WITH ONE of the three prime suspects still alive, the police said they were continuing their investigation into the theft of P1 million from the Chain Glass Enterprises Inc. office in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Last month, one of the suspects, security guard Fernando Cano, went on a shooting rampage inside the office, killing the other suspect, Ricardo Mesina, and wounding the third, Jerry Anzures, who survived by hiding in the toilet.

Cano, who reportedly resented being considered a suspect and the teasing he was getting from his coworkers as a result, later killed himself. Ironically, just hours before, he had been cleared by the police who were still trying to determine what made him go after the two other suspects.

Case investigator PO3 Rodel Benitez of the Manila Police District said they were just waiting for the results of a fingerprint analysis done on Anzures and Mesina. Aie Balagtas See
