Aquino declares December 8 holiday in Batangas province, 3 cities

President Benigno Aquino III has declared December 8, Tuesday as a special non-working holiday in five areas in order to celebrate their respective foundation anniversaries.

In a series of proclamations (Proclamation No. 1171 to 1175) issued by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, December 8 was declared a holiday in the whole Batangas province for its 434th foundation day; Batac City in Ilocos Norte for its 438th foundation day; Antipolo City in Rizal for its 424th foundation day; Taguig City for its 10th foundation day; and Agoo town in La Union for its 437th foundation day.

Aquino said that the holiday was declared in the said areas to “give the people full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.”

Being a special non-working holiday, workers who report to their jobs will get 1.3 times of their daily rate while those who will not report to work will not get any pay.
