Inmate stabbed dead in Bilibid’s maximum security compound

Another inmate at the Maximum Security Compound of the National Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City was stabbed to death by another prisoner early morning Monday.

An incident report showed that victim Felicito Braga was declared dead on arrival at the prison hospital.

The assailant was his cousin, Jonathan Braga. The incident happened at Dorm 12-B at about 1a.m.

Authorities said they were still investigating the motive of the killing.

It was the fifth reported violent incident at the Maximum Security Compound since October.

Last Nov. 25, an inmate’s wife stabbed another inmate. Officials, however, refused to give details of the incident.

Then, last Oct. 26, inmate Antonio Usis was stabbed in the shoulder by fellow prisoner Allan Pinot who used an 11-inch improvised icepick.

On Oct. 15, a commando gang member Edward Villanueva stabbed fellow inmate Cesar Aguilar over carpentry materials.

Before that, former Masbate jail warden Charlie Quidatu was shot to death by Ronald Catapang, who confessed to the killing.

Catapang said Quidatu wanted him to throw a grenade at Commando gang elders who were having a meeting but he refused.
The latest violent incident happened despite a series of raids called “Oplan Galugad” aimed at confiscating weapons and other contraband from inmates and stopping illegal activities.
