LOCAL government units (LGUs) that perform well stand to receive funding for more projects, according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Austere Panadero.
LGUs will be required to get the good local governance seal to gain access to the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) and funding for DILG projects such as the Bottom-Up Budgeting and Konkreto at Ayos na Lansangan at Daan Tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran (Kalsada).
The PCF aims to promote good governance practices among LGUs, particularly those conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance. The PCF incentive is P7 million for provinces, P5 million for cities and P3 million for municipalities.
To raise the bar of good governance higher, two additional criteria will be included in the good financial housekeeping component.
Director Anna Liza Bonagua said the LGU must have above zero average local collection growth rate for the last three years and has settled its 2014 obligations to the Government Service Insurance System. Julie M. Aurelio
