2 QC teens drown in San Mateo River
A TEENAGE boy who fell into a river and his friend who tried to rescue him drowned on Friday afternoon in an area along the border of Quezon City and Rizal province. Kirby Ruselle Suba and Johnrey Galan, both 16 years old and residents of Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City, were having a stroll with friends along the edge of San Mateo River around 4:30 p.m. when Suba slipped and fell into the water, according to a police report. Galan tried to rescue Suba but he also drowned, said SPO2 Josephine Lopez of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). The victims’ friends sought the help of barangay officials who then reported the incident to the QCPD’s Batasan Hills station. The bodies of the victims were retrieved by the San Mateo rescue team in Barangay Ampid, San Mateo, Rizal, around 8:30 p.m. The victims’ parents no longer wished to have the deaths investigated, police said. Las Piñas traffic advisory
TO ENSURE the smooth flow of traffic during the holidays, the local government of Las Piñas ordered the police to focus on nine “choke points” in the city. Mayor Vergel Aguilar on Saturday said additional traffic personnel would be deployed to strictly enforce regulations at Philam, Sta. Cecilia, Moonwalk, Casimiro, Manila Times, Christ the King villages, Concha Cruz, all in Barangay BF International/CAA; in Daang Hari in Barangay Almanza 2; and in Barangay Zapote Junction and Barangay Pilar. Vehicle owners who have Friendship Route stickers will be allowed access to the private subdivisions covered by the route until midnight. Man found dead near mall
Article continues after this advertisementA MAN who remained unidentified and believed to be a hit-and-run victim was found dead near SM City Sucat mall on C-5 Road Extension in Parañaque City on Saturday morning. The police described the man to be between 50 and 60 years old, of medium build, and wearing a white T-shirt, denim pants, black shoes and black socks. The man had a wound on the right leg. He also had tattoos on his right shoulder that read “Guardian” and “Cesar.” Five P100 bills were found in his pocket, according to a report by the Scene of the Crime Operatives unit of the Parañaque police. The body remained unclaimed as of press time at People’s Funeral homes in Las Piñas City, where it was brought for autopsy. Mark Anthony Toldo
