BOGOTA, Colombia — Police in Colombia’s capital have recovered the remains of four women whose bodies were dumped near a pilgrimage site that is one of the city’s most-emblematic tourist spots.

Police announced the grisly discovery on Tuesday and said a homeless man has confessed to murdering the women. The suspect has been dubbed the “Monster of Monserrate” for the church-topped mountain where he built a makeshift camp and drug den on an empty lot amid heavy forest.

Police Gen. Humberto Guatibonza said authorities are searching the area for more bodies. The suspect has told authorities he killed seven women but only four bodies have been found, police said.
